Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-08-30.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data PLATES.BH collects, why, and what rights you have over it, in line with Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law (Legislative Decree No. 30 of 2018, "the PDPL").

1. Who we are

PLATES.BH is a listing platform for Bahrain vehicle number plates, operated under the name Plates BH. For any request relating to this Privacy Policy or your personal data, contact platesbh973@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Account information: your name, WhatsApp number, email address, password, and governorate (optional), collected when you sign up.

Listing information: anything you enter to list a plate for sale — the plate number, price, category, description, governorate, and any photo you upload.

Activity you create: offers you place or receive, messages sent through the support chat, and — for sellers — response-time statistics computed from your offer activity.

Automatically collected data: standard technical logs generated by our hosting providers (such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps) for security and abuse prevention, and a small amount of browser storage used to remember your language preference and keep you signed in.

3. How we use it

To operate the marketplace: showing your listings to buyers, letting buyers contact you, processing the listing fee described in the Terms of Service, and running features like featured placement or a dealer plan.

To keep the Site safe: detecting and preventing fraud, spam, and abuse, and enforcing the Terms of Service.

To respond to you: support requests, and account-related notices.

To meet legal obligations, where applicable.

4. What we share, and with whom

Your name, WhatsApp number, and governorate appear publicly on any listing or storefront page you have active — this is a core, visible feature of the Site (buyers need a way to reach a seller) rather than an incidental disclosure, and by publishing a listing you are choosing to make that information public.

We use third-party infrastructure providers to run the Site: a database and authentication provider, and an application hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and confidentiality commitments, and do not use it for their own purposes. We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

We may disclose data if required by Bahraini law or a valid legal request.

5. Where data is stored

Our infrastructure providers host data outside Bahrain (currently including a data region in India for the database, and global infrastructure for the application layer). The PDPL restricts transferring personal data outside Bahrain unless a recognised safeguard applies.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep limited records for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or a legal obligation.

7. Your rights

Under the PDPL, you can ask us to: confirm what personal data we hold about you and access it; correct inaccurate data; delete data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep; and object to your data being used for direct marketing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address in Section 1 — we aim to respond within the timeframes the PDPL sets out.

You can also lodge a complaint with Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Authority if you believe your data has been mishandled.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data — including encrypted connections between your browser and our servers, access controls that limit who and what can read or change data, and a database design that enforces those limits at the data layer rather than relying on the application alone. Your password is private: nobody, including us, can see it.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Authority as required (within 72 hours of discovery, per the PDPL) and, where there's a real risk to you, notify you directly.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference (English/Arabic). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Children

The Site is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone not legally able to enter into the contracts described in the Terms of Service.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we will provide more prominent notice.

12. Contact

Questions or requests about your personal data can be sent to platesbh973@gmail.com.
